What is the difference between Sun Sign and Ascendant?
Many people only know their Sun Sign, the one determined by the day of birth. However, the Ascendant plays an equally important role in your personality.
Sun Sign
Represents your inner self, your essence, ego, and life force. It is who you are at your core and how you shine.
Ascendant
It is the cover of the book. It represents your appearance, style, the first impression you make on others, and how you start projects.
The combination of these two factors creates a more complete picture. For example, a Leo Sun with a Virgo Ascendant may be a natural leader, but with a much more analytical and reserved approach than the stereotypical outgoing Leo.
How are the calculations made?
Sun Sign: Calculated based on the position of the Sun in relation to the zodiac constellations on the day of your birth. Our calculator uses standard tropical dates.
Ascendant: Requires a more complex mathematical calculation that involves the exact time and geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) to determine which constellation was rising on the eastern horizon.
